What is the Lynton CoolPeel™ treatment?
The Lynton CO2 CoolPeel™ treatment is a revolutionary solution to skin ageing. It comfortably delivers the benefits of a traditional CO2 resurfacing procedure but without the associated downtime. By only targeting the more superficial layers of the skin’s tissues, the CoolPeel™ removes dry, damaged skin to reveal a younger, healthier-looking complexion without extensive thermal damage to the skin, which can lead to prolonged downtime. The Lynton CoolPeel™ is the only CO2 device that has the ability to deliver highly effective ablative treatment without the associated skin trauma or lengthy cosmetic recovery.
How does the Lynton CoolPeel™ treatment work?
Unlike most ablative laser treatments that remove the top layer of the skin, the CoolPeel™ SmartXide CO2 laser treatment delivers laser energy in short pulses which creates a controlled injury to the skin with less heating of the tissues. This treatment results in less redness, flaking and peeling of the skin in the days afterwards, so you can return to your daily activities faster and with less visible downtime.
Which types of skin concerns can CoolPeel™ treat?
CoolPeel™ is gentle, yet effective enough to treat a variety of skin concerns. It is especially useful for addressing the initial and more significant signs of ageing. Some examples of skin concerns that can be addressed include:

Does a CoolPeel™ treatment hurt?
As the CoolPeel™ CO2 laser treatment offers far less thermal heating of the skin tissues, it is a much more comfortable treatment with no requirement for anaesthesia or local numbing. However, if you are particularly sensitive or nervous about discomfort, a topical numbing cream can be applied 30 minutes before the treatment commences. The SmartXide CO2 laser also incorporates a numbing device which is applied to the face during the treatment, for your comfort.
Am I suitable for a course of CoolPeel™ treatments at Emma Chan Medical Aesthetics?
In general the CoolPeel™ device is suitable for most patients who are medically fit and healthy. However, prior to agreeing to carry out any treatment here at Emma Chan Medical Aesthetics we will ask that you attend a no obligation consultation and medical history check. This initial meeting is your opportunity to discuss your skin concerns and ask your practitioner any questions you might have about this treatment. It also enables us to confirm that there are no contraindications which may prevent or restrict your CoolPeel™ treatment from going ahead. Once your initial consultation is completed and we are happy to perform this treatment, you can go ahead and book your first session.
How many CoolPeel™ treatments will I need?
For optimal results, we recommend a course of three to six treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart. We also advise maintenance treatments every twelve months in order to keep your skin looking youthful and healthy.
When will I see the results?
Initial results are typically experienced at around two weeks following your first treatment. However, the tightening effect of CoolPeel™ will continue to improve with subsequent treatments and for approximately six months after your initial treatment.
